Ancient wisdom for modern wellness: Discover the science of life and personalized health

Ayurvedic herbs and spices

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda, which translates to "the science of life," is one of the world's oldest holistic healing systems. Developed more than 5,000 years ago in India, it's based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit.

The primary focus of Ayurveda is to promote good health, rather than fight disease. However, treatments may be recommended for specific health problems.

Key Principles of Ayurveda

Prakriti: Your Unique Constitution

According to Ayurveda, each person has a unique constitution or prakriti, determined at conception by a combination of the three doshas. Understanding your prakriti helps you make lifestyle choices that maintain balance and prevent disease.

Dinacharya: Daily Routine

Ayurveda emphasizes the importance of daily routines that align with natural cycles. Following a consistent schedule for sleeping, eating, and self-care practices helps maintain doshic balance and overall health.

Agni: Digestive Fire

Agni is responsible for digestion and metabolism. Strong agni allows proper digestion of food, thoughts, and emotions. When agni is weak, toxins (ama) accumulate, leading to disease. Ayurvedic practices aim to strengthen agni.

Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas

These three qualities of consciousness affect mental health. Sattva represents clarity and harmony, rajas represents activity and passion, and tamas represents inertia and dullness. Ayurveda promotes a sattvic lifestyle for optimal mental health.
